New Day Dawing at Joshua Tree National Park

Hmmm....what's a Dawing? OK I get it. Nice silhouettes of the Joshua Trees and starburst on the rising sun. I remember as a child our family used to travel through the Mohave Desert and when we went through Joshua Tree I always got tired because it looked like the trees were yawning and stretching.

Nice perspective. I'd like to see the three leaves in sharp focus rather than just concentrating on the branch stick and the bark.

You don't see many new wood covered bridges. Nice geometric shapes. The blown out lighting at the end has sort of a "go into the light" heavenly light look.

Thank you all for your comments. They touched me deeply. Unfortunately I'll soon be DQ'd. I started selecting a picture and editing 20 minutes before cut-off and didn't notice the minimal editing rules. This is the first minimal editing competition I've entered. I didn't crop, but did auto-adjust levels and adjusted saturation. I know I would have done just fine doing it totally legal, though it would have scored somewhat lower. I apologize profusely for my negligence.
Also, I realized I was not only ethically but legally imposing on this girl, since I was on her parents' property when I took the picture. She glanced up at me when I was walking up, and then looked up again briefly when I took the shot. My shutter finger reactions aren't that good and I got lucky on her looking.
Oh, and SoulMan1978, I was not personally damaged by these fires, though I was in the evacuation zone throughout it.
The original looks like this

Maybe lacking some creativity. It's not a new saying, but a unique concept.

Lake Hodges from Via Rancho Pkwy maybe? I heard it burned all the way down Del Dios Hwy on both sides. It's really sad. Unfortunately with this picture there is too much green before the burned areas, so it's hard to tell it's a wildfire area. Maybe moving in closer to the burned areas would be better, but it would bypass some of the beauty of this scene. It's good to see the blue sky with whispy clouds again.

Sharp image, but I only see blue from the rainbow. I've seen rainbow colrs from petroleum before, but maybe it's hard to capture on camera.

A silicon chip? Nice refraction patterns. I was trying to come up with something like this for the macro challenge. Good lighting, framing, sharpness.
