I respectfully disagree. The less-blurry ground helps anchor the scene. And too much blur down there would compete with the blur of the subjects, thereby reducing the effect.

All of this misses the point, of course. Technical overanalysis aside, I think both Paul and I agree that this image is a winner.

Thanks for the nod, Ben, and thanks for this image, ubique. Not surprisingly it was one of my top picks. I stared at it for a good long time trying to find words, but if they don't come, I don't force it. I enjoyed getting lost in it -- noticing different things about it at different times. What better thing can an image offer?
