Stopby jdannelsComment: I love the shot you entered, but in terms of meeting challenge criteria, this would probably have been the one to enter (although I completely understand the idea of using a challenge to show off a great image, even when it's not the best fit.) The angle is dead on and the blurred subjects around and inside the lawn set it off beautifully. |

Missing Youby Purple_GirlComment: I can't add much to what other commentors have already said. The conception is brilliant, the execution -- well, that comes with practice. Controlling light can be tough. I shoot mostly outdoors for that reason. When I do shoot indoors, I usually resort to poor man's lighting: the sun. Natural light offers tons of possibilities ( MelonMusketeer suggested it also I see), so keep it in mind for next time.
I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Tenaciousby levyj413Comment: Composed like the genius that you are. I love the placement of the line. Great contrasts and textures here too. |

SNA_0246.jpgby levyj413Comment: Well composed with good detail. Maybe a bit more saturation? Good use of thirds. |

Batter Up!by levyj413Comment: I'm a sucker for shots like this. I like that amidst its abrstractedness (is that a word?) it retains recognizable baseball colors. It's got some interesting radial geometry also. |

from darkness rises a silent prayerby dragonballzfsrComment: Originally posted by JDubsgirl: why didn't this do better? i dont understand |
5.6+ isn't bad. As others have said, it lacks sharpness, and flowers are pretty abundant around DPC, so the competition is fierce.
Compositionally, I think this is perfect. The lighting, colors and even the backdrop are all very good. Keep it up!

Number 1.jpgby karmatComment: Great expression, nice candid feel. Focus is a little soft and the saturation is a little flat -- probably the lighting and maybe that couldn't be helped. |

Kiddos.jpgby Patrick_RComment: I like this. They look very serious. Lighting on the boy's right side (left in photo) could be better. It's hard to tell where his right arm is. |

Paulieby timfythetooComment: Great shot. I grew up in a Harley kind of town -- reminds me of some of my old neighbors. The skin is processed beautifully, and the pose and angle are good too. |
