A little noisy (really high ISO?), and some of the details in the birds are lost to the overexposure. I do like where you were taking this though. Nice composition.

The harsh shadows and high contrast really make this work for me. The framing/crop suggests that he is secondary to, or an extension of perhaps, his instrument. Nice job!

Wow, I've inspired someone! Good job. Speaking in general, I think this technique needs to be applied judiciously. A little goes a long way, I'm discovering, and a lot of folks (I'm also discovering) consider it cheesy. I think it works here -- if anything it's a good study in cross-processing.

That aside, this seems to lack a little bit of texture -- like maybe too much noise reduction was applied. Or maybe the focus is just soft.
