A dramatic portrait. I wish it extended down more - so we could see the entire neckline of her dress. Wish also that the background were completely black - at least air=brush out the wrinkles.

This pic intrigues me. The thumbnail looks almost all black. I enjoy seeing the face appear out of the darkness when I see it close. You get a lot of detail for such little light, but it is still just too dark for me.

Nice idea - good subject. The light moulds the shapes nicely. The brights are just a bit bright however, and it is a bit disconcerting that we cannot see his other arm or the rest of hers. A deeper DOF woldbring the near hand into focus.

I'm not really sure I'd call this black on black - but there seems to be some confusion about the challenge anyway. I like the smoke against the blackness (where have I seen that before? lol) You've captured some delicate yet well defined wisps. I might crop in a bit.

Fountains Abbey

This is one of my favorites in the challenge. I love how the arches fill the composition. I like the long passage way to the right with the sunlight making steps on the floor, The details in the stones of the arches are great. I'd crop the bottom to get rid of the half included spot of sun - or include it entirely. Why is the base of the pillar blue? I love the ancient feel the pic gives - good subject for black on black. 9

Waiting For Irina

This portait creates a definite mood - very nice. The glare of the artificial light, the blankness of the wall, the shadow on your face, your position as you slump against the wall. Waiting in an empty place - hopefully Irina will come soon. I woudl like to see how the pic would look if it included your foot on the ground and a bit of ground at the bottom - I'm wondering if it would give the viewer a better sense of place - or perhaps are you saying you are "up in the air" without Irina?

I thought I had seen my favorite of the challenge and then this! The bold yellow of the sign against the dark blue clouds. Not only is the sign off center - it directs the viewer off the road that is leading to the dark horizon - diverting the eye to the bright sky above. The photo makes us off center by looking at it. I love the golden light, the dramatic contrasts. Everything works here! 10

Nice crisp capture of the motion. The bit of dirt in the bottom is perfect - we can see the landing. The trees make a great backdrop - a sense of the place but not distracting. 9

congratulations for catching a lovely image of something that must have been very difficult to do! The color on the nesk and the detail of the feathers there is marvelous. Nice off center too - must be a crop of a larger pic? It is pixleated - but it succeeds regardless. 8
