Yes, that would be a shock, more for the giver than the receiver. The black velvet box shows up well against the hand. I'd like to see more contrast between the hand and the background. Wish the hand was in focus. Wish the gesture implied more surprise, maybe he could be dropping the box? Or if there was a mirror in the back, we could see the look on herr face?

I guess you had to be there. She does look pleased, and it looks like a nice time between friends, but the foreground and background are cluttered and distracting and the red package draws our eyes away from her face which should be getting the attention.

The blur of motion on the left helps us to feel the surprise, the bold patterns and tones of the girl on the right's cothes stand out well against the white. The stairs and the door are distracting.

love the look on the face, "It wasn't bad enough that you had to give me. a bath? You had to take pictures too??" light from the flash is very directional, gives that harsh shadow, the background is a bit jumbled and distracting.

Caught in the glare of the headlights? It is a bit hard to understand whats going on. If we could see more of the face maybe. I see the car is facing him, but it doesn't seem to be moving. I feel more menace from the man because I can;t see his face. Does that make any sense?

I like how you've included the mouth just on the side, wish it were sharper. You've carefully set up the letter and the black backdrop, and given thought to how the arm and hand should be connected logically to the face, but the lighting could be better, this is all so gray.

Yes, that would be quite a surprise! I'd like to see the look on John's face, actually that is missing, or a gesture of his hand as he drops the phone. This pictures is very static for a surprise. Having the ring next to the phone is a nice touch tho'

The fingers are almost as metalic as the ring at this high contrast. You've got some great detail in the finger prints on the left hand. I'd think a larger DOF would work better, bringing the ring finger into focus. While this can be a surprising moment, I don't feel the surprise looking at the hands...

Cute subject. I love her smile and her hand coming up to take his away. I'd crop a tiny bit at the top to get rid of that white bit. Whish the hands were sharp. The sparkle on the earing make it look like a jewelry ad - eye catching, but a bit distracting when the shot is about the expression on her face.
