I like the idea of the tryptich. I find that when I do one, it is usually easier (and more pleasing to the eye) to pick a color that's already within the three pictures and use that color for the frame (in a pinch, black and white always work too). In your case, you could have gone for green or some shade of orange. Try it eand let me know how it works.
