On Goldenrodby KarenNfldComment: Do you know what kind of wasp this is? I am very interested to find out! I will go and look him up :) I'll be back in a few...
OKIE DOKIE!! It appears you have photographed a species of yellowjacket :) I have found the link for you YellowJackets :)
IMHO, you are lucky not to have been stung as those little boogers are quite agressive :)
Perhaps you are a bee whisperer? This is certainly a very interesting photograph in that the colours of his thorax and head match the yellow of the goldenrod :) The detail of the hairs is AWESOME!! I am drooling over this pic :) Message edited by author 2007-02-15 22:32:31. |

Luncheon at Cafe Echinaceaby banmornComment: OH YES!! I wish my big mama prayer would come back! She was HUGE (around 6 inches long)! This looks like a male though. They are oftentimes smaller and brown in colour like this one :) This is a great angle for a praying mantis and I can't believe you caught it eating :) I am curious to know if it flew for you afterward... that is quite a site! |

The Belly of the Beastby strangeghostComment: You are right! It does look like an adult male mosquito. I know you have already heard this but the detail in that eye is captivating :) I will look him up and see if I can find out what he is :) |

2006-08-09 045637 Crop.jpgby RainMotorsportsComment: Wow! Look at the detail in this little guy! I can see the hairs on his little legs! I am curious to know what that is he is standing on as it adds a LOT of texture to this photograph. Great catch! Amazing detail! I am going to go see if I can find out what kind of fly this is! |

And now....Back to the Musicby PaulfComment: The wall in the bg is a tad of a distraction (there is a paint drop headed for the models nose)... but the silouhette is interesting... it kind of balances it out. I am not sure if you wanted the light or the dark... a true silouhette would have worked a bit better here I think... I could be wrong though... I oftentimes am :) Perhaps move a little away from the wall so it falls out of focus? Still, a great idea! |
