It's interesting how you used dark space to get the "rule of thirds" and to keep the viewers focus only on the subject. The round image with the light pole shadow infers a mental image of the man in a scope's cross hairs.
Nice desat with the small patch of green and blue to give it a little more mystery.

This is a great contrast of items in this scene. The hard frame at the top is a fine shot in itself, but you kept the human element with the street scene at the bottom too which adds scale and interest. It is like two images that work well with each other. The B&W/ toning is just crisp and nice for this too.

This is great! It's good that you knew the area well enough to know where to set up and shoot from this location. There are 3 balloons in this shot that I saw at Abq NM in Oct 06, the eagle, the scarecrow, and the funny looking bear. There are likely more, but the 3 are easy to identify. The overall scene is just excellent, with much on the ground and in the air to study. I could spend a long time looking into the details of a larger version of this. I can't believe that with 133 views as I type this, that this image has only 1 comment besides this one. You should submit it for a print. : )

I can see what you were going for here, as I recently shot some of the moon with a cell tower. It was difficult to decide if I wanted to shoot focused on the tower or to focus on the moon. The one that I kept was a compromise, with both a little soft. I see that you chose the same focus for this, and it works nicely, as the structure is soft enough to not look so static and it blends into the very nice sky.

day 16. summertime and the livin' is easy

The softness of the focus and the poses of the two of you seem to add a lot of mystery to ths image. Had you not explained what was going on, it would have been just as good, maybe even better to try to figure it out with only the clues in the image.
Most lenses that can be manually focused have the focal distances marked on the focus ring. If there is enough light at the camera to see the numbers, it can be useful for this sort of shot if you want it in focus. I carry a tiny flashlight in my bag for setting the camera while shooting in low light.
