03 - Pine Needlesby ErikVComment: Simple and solid. You can certainly see the DOF on the finish of the car in this shot. Good composition too. It's sort of dynamic. |

6-october 08 macros. paper waspby rozComment: Awesome detail and great background for this sort of shot. It's good that you have time to go on your walks to get this sort of shots. |

06 - Leavesby ErikVComment: The 105 gives very shallow DOF at the aperture you chose for this. I am guessing that it was f4. It looks good on the leaves, but seems a bit distracting on the bud in the center for only the nearest point of it to be in focus.
I use one of the older manual Micro Nikkor 105 f2.8's and love it for it's very shallow DOf when shooting wide open. |

_DSC0378.jpgby sulamkComment: Very classy indeed! The sharpness and detail are excellent with the B&W treatment and strong backlight. That's a good macro set up. |

peacefulby ashley69Comment: If your camera has the options, you need to use low iso, and high shutter speed to get shallow depth of field.
This image has very low contrast. I don't see much for shadows in this image, so I am guessing that the sky was overcast when it was shot.
For better focus on the subject that you choose, try centering the view in the camera on that object, then push the shutter lightly, which will set the focus and exposure, then hold the shutter that way while you compose and shoot the shot. That will lock the focus range on the subject that was in the middle when you applied the light shutter pressure.
Welcome to DPC, and it is nice to see you entering challenges. |

Mysteryby patio127Comment: That's very pretty! It looks like it's glowing from the inside. It's amazing what we drive or walk by everyday and not notice. |

ChicagoNight_7_15 121_Edited_BW.jpgby zodaonlyComment: If you had something in the foreground it would help draw the viewer in to this image. You did a good job of getting the esposure right, and the B&W looks nice in a retro sort of way. If you are shooting night shots in the city, try shooting using tungsten white balance for a few of the shots. It will take the orange glow out of the sky. |
