I like the way the backlit pebbles are picking up the glow of the setting sun in this. The bird is a nice touch too. I try to include birds in many of my sunset shots.

Now that is an unusual fireworks shot. It's rare to see them in photos without smoke and sparks involved. I like the gold, black, and red color combo.

That's a classy lens to be birding with. That little viewfinder trick sounds like a very good idea. I would guess that the hawk might have been hearing your lens focusing, although it is ultrasonic to us.
