A Home in West Mauiby Art RoflmaoComment: This is a very nice night shot! I see by the stars that you were on the west side of the mountains, shooting to the east. I like the way the light from the house is lighting up the trees on the right. |

flowerby retakeComment: High contrast like this makes it tricky to shoot light colored flowers and to keep the detail in the flowers without "darking out" the leaves. A deep green filter when shooting would bring the leaves up and the flower down in levels, allowing you to keep all the details in the flower without blowing out anywhere in the image. It's an old school trick from the silver and acetic acid days of photography.
This is very good for no processing, SFC. (straight from the camera) |

dandelionby retakeComment: Medium DOF and the right shutter speed to show the action at the bloom mean a lot in this image. Well done. |

Shadowsby PennyStreetComment: I am seeing a pattern here, but it takes some brain bending to make sense of it. I am guessing that there is something similar to a fence casting the shadow. |

Yardby PennyStreetComment: There is a nice collection of shapes and textures in this. It looks like someone is renovating inside and has a lot of stuff sitting outside. |

_MG_0754by tvsometimeComment: This has a very "grabby" subject. I like the curves and repeating radials a lot. Exposure is spot on for this too. |

Sunrise Panoramaby JuliBocComment: Wow Juli! This is marvelous for an iPhone image. This would be marvelous for a DSLR image. I think that the shape of the strip of sand beyond the reflecting pool is a great compliment to the sky in this shot. |

BW #2by turnofthesueComment: Cool perspective! That's a good lens for this. You can set the brightness down a notch on your LCD when shooting where it's darker, and it will help you to expose correctly. Your eyes adjust to the low ambient lighting, and the images in the LCD look a lot brighter than they will on the monitor. When I shoot late evening or night, I have to do that, or every shot will be under exposed because I have no metering with the older lenses that I use most of the time. |
