Betcha this would have done better, but it's a tough call in 2 respects: you had to choose between the eyes and the nose/fur combo (always a toughie for me) AND there are the voters who migtn't think it adequately framed. For me this has more life (and cat). (Comment of a middler).

Love the simplicity/apparent simplicity of this, and the spare but succinctly defined coot in his smooth rippled water. (I'm wondering why you didn't crop some off the top as you did the bottom; in your original the dark above the curve balances the bottom, but here I'm not sure).

4 - Wheeling Suspension Bridge

Very very interesting. Texture of water and massive bridge pylon(?) om right foreground being more in focus or less obscured by precipitation quite strongly anchor a scene of many elements which contribute but don't compete/clash. (Managing multiple elements is a HUGE challenge for me). The sweet spot/icing on the cake is where the suspension cables turn from dark grey to almost white.
