Week 05by hajekaComment: Very nice capture in my opinion...You really got a lot out of that 135..ISO 1600 and handheld at 1/60? I'm impressed! You handled the lighting so well. You are making me want that lens :) |

1.52 Smoke breakby MelethiaComment: Awesome capture! He looks so natural sitting there reading..you have shown a side of his personality which makes this a success. On the black and white conversion I think you have lost some of the good tonal range of the original. I think it would look much better if you could bring out the camo with black and white conversion where you could darken and lighten different colors. Also, if you could burn the wall behind and below him I think it would work better as a natural frame. There just seems to be a loss off character in the walls from the conversion. Take a look at the thumbnail versions side by side if you haven't already...
Another thing that might help is a "contrast USM"..I don't really know if that is the correct term, but what I do is apply a USM with a very high radius like 100 pixals and set the amount to 10 or so and thresholds to 0.
Anyway, it is a great capture as is and please keep it for your b/w collection as I really love it! |

5 - My Favorite Daughterby BudComment: Wonderful capture! I'm a nut for foreground out of focus areas so I really like it in your shot. I get a lot of comments that they are distracting, but it suites my taste well.
I love the natural lighting, but I would like to see a little more light on her face. You mentioned a little dodge and burn, I would go a little more with the dodging on her face and eyes. I would also burn the other parts so that you have a nice tonal seperation from her face and other parts of the composition.

IMG_1688.jpgby beneeComment: I'm looking at this on a very bright LCD laptop monitor so it looks awesome to me. I love the seperation light on her back and rim lighting on her forehead. If this were in a challenge it would get creamed, but as a side challenge shot I really love it's mood and drama. |

IMG_3781-01.jpgby beneeComment: This is an interesting composition and I really like the hard diagonal line created and the balanced dark tones on either side. The in focus area in the lower left kinda bothers me though. I would prefer the whole thing to be soft or the whole thing to be in focus..but not half and half. |

Broken Docksby HipychikComment: I love this mood of this with a most grey tonal range. It is like a "mid key" shot which suites the composition well. I would love to see some up close shots of the boat, docks, water, etc...

Henna by AliciaComment: Very interesting compostion and the tones are great. I like the fact that the hands are angled a bit from the arms because flat opened hands can look "snapshotish" otherwise. Of course what makes this really work is the great contrast. |

Spireby AliciaComment: The processing of this is too "weird" for my taste, but I like the composition and tones. |
