The Glanceby BAMartinComment: Great shot Barbara! I bet this one was hard to convert to b/w (emotionally not technically!) because I'm sure the costume and rings were so colorful...but the b/w works tremendously and I'm glad you did. The great shapes and tones really set this off. |

3.32 Dolceby MelethiaComment: Oh wow, that is a wonderful photo! I love all those repeating patterns! The one thing that strikes me first and foremost is the "cleanness" of this shot. Everything is so clean and symmetrical. I guess it is my obsessive compulsive personality, but it just looks awesome to me! I would change absolutely nothing about this photo. |

Feeding timeby MelethiaComment: I really like this black and white because of the strong tones. The boots and her pants especially because they are so dark and the whites of the pigeons and water. I also like the mystery of the crop as Sandy mentioned. At first glance something didn't seem "right" about the conversion but I can't quite put my finger on it and now that I've looked at it longer I can't tell! I want to say it was the birds or the ducks in the water looked oversharpened and then noise reduced..or maybe the opposite...noise reduced and then over sharpened? Anyway, it is probably my imagination because the more I look at it the more I like it. |

Birds through treesby MelethiaComment: This is a very interesting shot! I love the fact that it is both abstract and - whatever the term is for the opposite of abstract. The detail in those pigeons is just amazing! I love the foreground branches being oof too. Very neat photo! |

1.52b Smoke break reeditby MelethiaComment: Oh yea Deb, I think you have done a great job on the reedit. Nothing wrong with the original at all, but the darker walls of this one really force your attention to the young man's face and now those boots and camo really punctuate this shot. Great job. On another note it is very encourageing to me that you would actually make application of the comments and re-edit the shot. That is an inspiration to me....

Light Studyby doc_gonzoComment: Awesome lighting indeed! I love the splash of light on his face and the wonderful leading lines running to the boy. The texture in those windows is wonderful too. It is a shame about the bright light in the top right and the boy up there as it is kinda distracting. It could easily be burned into oblivian if you wanted..I think a crop would be a little too tight. Regardless this is a fine capture of the moment and I would be very proud of it. |

Americanaby VeioletsComment: I really like this composition and it reminds me of my childhood. I love the natural framing and for that reason might consider backing off a little on the white border (I like the small black one though). That board leading up to the front door sure is interesting too....nice capture of everyday. |

Pretty Streamby VeioletsComment: The white birch and white snow combine to make a really pleasing high key lanscape. I know it would be a real pain, but I would love to see some true blacks in this to offset the true whites...I'm thinking burned branches and reflections...I know it would be a lot of work, but it would really increase the tonal range of this photo. |

Cactusby VeioletsComment: Great example of contrast, shapes and blur combined together to make a wonderful b/w study. I love the natural vignetting caused by the shallow DOF and those almost translucent spikes are wonderful. Great photo! |
