Remember Being a Kid?by HollywoodHoebagComment: Interesting take on the challenge but for some unexplainable reason this composition doesn't work for me. Maybe more DOF, or tighter crop...I do like the angles created with the crayons and game boxes. It is very colorful, but the lighing doesn't seem to enhance those colors as much as I would expect...maybe you neededed more modeling with shadows using a brighter second light? 6 |

Floral Stillby NikonJebComment: The colors and "abstractness" is wonderful! I actually wish the whole thing was as OOF as the top petals..(I bet you've never heard that before!)...The sharp stamen kinda breaks the flow up. I also wished the whole frame was filled with petals (leaving out the dark background gaps).....Overall nice photo and I bet it would love beautiful on a wall.... |

Beeby ck92Comment: I'm sure your getting plenty of "not still life" so I'll comment on the photo itself....I love the pattern created by the tips of the flowers and you've got some decent contrast going. The bee is OOF however which ruins the mood for me. Good use of rule of thirds in your composition. |

Amongst Friendsby Buckeye_FanComment: I love the composition, color choice and the harsh lighting is actually pretty nice. I would prefer some detail in those specular highlights (the bright spots). That can be accomplished by placing a sheet or something opaque in front of the light source (to create a "soft box"). I would also like to see some detail in the shadow below the apples to give them something to rest on. Good still life. |

Garyby FairyWingsComment: The broad lighting really supports this subject. The hat is perfectly placed to provide a frame for his face....great control of the situation. I can't think of anything that would have made it better....10 |

In The Kitchenby mileswilliamsComment: Going back and forth between a 9 and 10....if it wasn't for those durn blown bokeh higlights I would definately give it a 10...Never mind, the portrait is worth a 10. Perfect diffused light and the tones are absolutely beautiful. |

A Stroll in Monte Carloby CutterComment: This is outstanding B/W...the contrast and tone are just wonderful. I hope you're getting fair votes and not crazy stuff like "not a portrait, a candid" blah blah blah....This photo is a no brainer 10. |
