Great lighting and mood.....I love the warm tones and texture of the bricks. Composition is wonderful too. The angles of the shadows and upper wall add great interest as well.

Children are such a sacred blessing...all children get extra credit from me and a couple of points added to your score :) I love his "cool" look, it is so cute (and the hair) ! I'm sure it isn't doing to well here on DPC because of the blown windows in the back, distracting background, etc...but I like it!

I would have like for this to be a little larger so I could read the names, or perhaps a closer crop. I love the red flowers though that ad some interest Also, the fence really takes the eyes away from the subject and leads them right off the page. I'm not really sure how you could have composed this shot to avoid those things, but maybe an angle from above and left of the memorial that would include just a little of the flowers? Anyway, these are just my opinions and it doesn't mean the photo is bad in any way, just some thoughts.

Death to the sacred? Kinda harsh perhaps, but let me talk about the technicals....On my monitor the front of the skull looks OOF, the middle looks fine. The grass looks OK, so it is probably just my eyes! The lighting is pretty harsh and has killed (parden the pun) any texture that was in the skull. I think some soft light would have been more pleasing for this composition. It seems like a skull would have more interest for me, but for some reasonI just don't find it that interesting. Maybe it needed a better angle or cropped closer.

Just my opinion and random thoughts.....

I like the fact that you have included a foreground object for interest, but it looks kinda creapy to me :) For some reason on my monitor the red horizon just doesn't look right...also the mixture of warm tones at the horizon and cool tones in the clouds is awkward. he lights behind the tree are a little distracting and the can? on the front right too. I guess overall the distractions don't fit solitude for me, but remember that is just one person's opinion here and doesn't mean the photo is bad. I'm sure there are just as many folks that love it....

I think this is a very good portrait and I like it myself. The lighting isn't flat or dull and the composition is nice. You have done well with the exposure of the white dress and dark piano. Here are some things that I think I know about voters in these challenges...

1. People will not like the busy curtain or the fact that it is open a little and so she has a bright rectangle comeing out of her head.
2. The flowers and the word (Joy?) on the upper left are cut off...
3. She looks too "posed"
4. She has harsh shadows under her chin and arm.
