Jan, I gave this a 6 and I'll see if I can find the right words to explain what would make me score this higher. I totally think that there is nothing more peaceful and quiet than to walk in to a big beautiful church when no one else is present. And I look at this photo and I can see the scene you have captured. BUT I guess for me to give this higher than a 6 I had to feel the "mood" of the moment. I think for a place like this, the mood is best created by lighting. For me the top half was too bright, and the ceiling lights almost felt like an interruption in the setting. I'd want to see a softer glow coming from the windows and from those hanging lights. This then allows one's attention to focus on the highlight of the church, which is the altar. What if you maybe decreased the f-stop some more, maybe f 11? And increased the shutter speed a smidge? If my thinking here needs more explanation, just send a PM :)

Well, I gave it a 5. I was actually more intrigued by that door that seems to lead to nowhere. Now THAT is pretty cool.

Beautiful scene. I think that the clouds that are hanging out around some of the building tops plus the black and white tone turn a chaotic environment into a peaceful setting.

I saw this earlier but I neglected to comment on it. The thumbnail does not do it justice. There is something simple and powerful about it. Love the composition and the lighting creates such a noir-type of feel to this. Very good job done here.

I loved this idea and thought it was a perfect concept for the silence challenge but as some others mentioned, it was the technicals that ended up hurting the photo. I too thought you could have pulled yourself away from the wall since the camera actually ended up focusing on it instead of you. One thing to think about trying is getting a desk lamp or some kind of spotlight and have it focus on the area of just your hands and mouth. Then turn off the lights and use maybe an ISO of 200. The idea would be to take the attention away from your face and bring more focus to your hands. Just a thought for you - good luck in the next challenge!

Too bad this did not finish higher. It's so good! I love those little feet. The hands really put the size into perspective. A wonderfully artsy photo.

What a great title for this! It is a beautiful shot. The lighting is wonderful. I love how he is looking up into the dark empty corner. It's like you caught that moment of exasperation that we all get once in a while. You really are making leaps and bounds with your photography and lighting skills!

I like the two little trees kind of hanging back and looking at the big one in the foreground. Great job with the editing - I like how you highlighted the walking path. Congrats on the ribbon!!!

IR or just a cold winter scene? I like the strong contrasts and the sky is beautiful.
