Have you, perhaps, uploaded the wrong photo?

I am missing the point of this photo; that aside, the exposure is very dark.

Just been reviewing the Fences challenge - this is a crop and differently processed version of Fence No 7 isn't it?

Time now, perhaps, to move forward - not to forget, but to regain your life. A photo with palpable emotion.

A nice looking dog, but this photo doesn't have that added 'thing' that makes me want to look at it again. The exposure is fine, but I think there are a number of things you could have done to inprove the photo:
- try experimenting with different angles and perspectives, perhaps lying down on the floor with the dog, or if you want to take one from above, coming in much closer - this would help to avoid the snapshot look.
- make sure your sharpest point of focus is the dog's eyes; here it appears to be further back, towards the shoulder.
-minor point, perhaps, but from the perspective of a 'non-doggy' person, the exposed ears look rather unsettling - you may want to think about ensuring they are flipped forward.

It would seem more natural for the grandmother to be interacting in some way with the baby. As it is, they seem to be unconnected elements.

This is something I procrastinated over last year, too. A 4-8 mile country ramble every weekend, but no proper hike. I shall rectify that this year.

Photographicly, a bit more detail to show the texture of the snow would be good, but very hard to expose correctly for. That said, you certainly have displayed the isolation and hostility of the environment.
