This is how snowmen are born!by Beautiful-JoeComment: Positive:
-Love the idea
-Really good texture in the snow - and no footsteps either
-Excellent exposure of the snow, with really pleasing highlights and shadows
Negative:
-Slight question mark over the white balance, which is a little on the blue side, although that said, it does suit the image
-I would crop out the pink lens flare at the top
-smudge (?sensor dust) bottom left, which you may be able to repair with photoshop or the Gimp.
Overall - I like it! |

After The Storm by DJWoodwardComment: My favourite of the challenge - a photo that really draws the viewer in - and a very well deserved blue. |

K.I.S.S.by raishComment: Absolutely no idea what the title means (bit worried I am displaying my dimness here...). A pleaing composition, although I remain to be convinced of the benefit of the semi-opaque border. |

spoonsby mkComment: I like the simplicity of this - there is something strangely calming about the image! The b/w conversion os done well, and has certainly brought out the texture of the metal. |

Rambo style cookin'by molly12341Comment: I'm afraid this doesn't work for me - on a subject and compositional level, and also on the technicals of the b/w conversion. The photo also cries out for knife blade sharp focus, which isn't present. |

100 North Mainby undieyatchComment: This is really strange - the perspective looks all wrong - am I looking at a real kitchen through a wondow, or at a billboard, I wonder. Either way, well spotted. |

Memorable bowlby dcb300Comment: A few problems here that prevent me from giving a high mark: there is considerable digital noise - this may be a side-effect of using a very high ISO, or more likely, of trying to rescue a badly under-exposed photo using photo editing software. Experimant with your camera to work out how high you can go with the film speed before visible 'noise' starts becoming apparant. secondly, the framing is weak - the bowl is tight up against the left hand side, and appears to be cut off just before the edge, whilst there is some space to the right; thirdly, the composition and subject matter do not make for a memorable photograph - at the end of the day the bowl might have some intrinsic value to the owner, but to the viewer this isn't clear - it needs some context in the composition to make sense. |

Kitchenwareby whiterookComment: What a shame the focus isn't a little crisper, as I do like the composition; the photo has the hint of narrative about it, rather than being a straight record shot - I find myself exploring the picture, wondering about the lives of the people who live here. If you didn't use it, some sharpening in photo editing would be beneficial. |

Ghost in the Machineby robaComment: Ooh, I want one, I want one - the Kitchen Aid, that is, not the ghost! A similar idea to the one I came up with, but didn't enter as however hard I tried, I couldn't get my 30 year old Kenwood Chef to look photogenic! That said, I would never have been able to produce a photograph as good as this, well composed, good choice of exposure, and very well presented. |

n 27(07) Étude d'un femme vue en buste, inachevé by silverfoxxComment: I really, really, really like the 'photo' part of this, but I also really dislike the lower 'sketch' part of the image; I would much prefer a nude photograph, and I feel that you would have carried it off in a tasteful manner. I am only going to give a 6, largely because I feel the transition from sketch to photo doesn't work particularly well here. Nonetheless, it was an interesting technique to try out, and may be worth exploring further; I do admire the fact that you have tried something new and bold. |
