Portrait of a Grasshopperby scotthadlComment: Perhaps not what I would expect to see if I went to an exhibition of portraits! As far as the photo goes, the colour combination of red and green is good, and the diagonal nature of the composition works. The focus is slightly soft - a very slightly deeper depth of field might have helped. I find the black and red stripiness of the background slightly off-putting. |

behind the screen doorby j-botComment: I am not keen on the effect that this has produced - shame, as there is a gorgeous portrait in there. |

Joyby GeocideComment: A fun shot, but more as a holiday memento than as a portrait. |

Seriouslyby tooterComment: This has a snapshot feel to it, rather than a considered portrait. The background is somewhat distracting - next time take time to scan your eyes around the viewfinder to make sure that you only have those elements that you intend to include. I suspect that this is a bonny little girl, and she appears to have heaps of character, but you have caught her in an unflattering pose. |

Curious About Somethingby gamazComment: You have a sweet model - try photographing him in the evening light,I thin you will be impressed with how much it will improve your portraits of him. |

Cuneytby mutosComment: The white t-shirt masks the smoke, which rather defeats the purpose of the composition! |

Engagedby jaysonmcComment: A pleasing portrait let down by heavy use of post-processing. The Gaussian blur isn't convincing - bits that should be in focus, that would have been on the same plane as the face, aren't. Go back to your original, treat it with a very gentle hand, and I am convinced you will have a portrait you and your model will wish to keep for posterity. |

the tres muheresby biggieComment: A reasonable entry, but you need to work on your post-processing sharpening. |

Thousands of Beating Wingsby SouthCoastOr3gonComment: What an amazing capture! It must have been wonderful to be there - I love taking photographs of birds, and this is the sort of shot I would be very proud to have taken. Good work! |
