Kiasmaby salmiakkiComment: This was probably my favourite of the challenge - the leading lines are clearly used as a compositional device, rather than forming the subject in their own right; the composition makes a good display of the scale of the scene, and the b&w conversion is strong. |

Sleep tightby kashiComment: Now then, had I voted on this one in my lunch hour at work, I would have been stumped as the screen appeared completely black - on my home laptop, though, the sleeping baby is perfectly obvious. I like the tight framing, and the darkness seems appropriate to the image of the sleeping child, although you have perhaps opted for slightly too dark an exposure. |

Drifting peacefullyby IreneMComment: The clarity of this extraordinary, and the sweep of the water is beautiful. The difference in the texture of the foreground water to the rest has resulted in the appearance that the leaf is suspended above the water - had there been a greater sense of connection it would have been a 9, as it is, a strong 8. |

"Peace on Earth, can it be. Years from now, Perhaps we'll see"by timfythetooComment: I have saved this for last because I couldn't make up my mind whether I found the photo cloyingly sentimental or naievely simple; in the end I am coming down on the latter (which is positive, by the way), although it is a fine line. The lighting style is becoming quite distinctive and certainly appeals to me - I have much to learn from you. The ddrop off in light to the left of the frame is effective and the light and dark brings to mind the Christian idea of the opposing values of good and evil, which I suspect was a deliberate intent. Overall, good work and in my top five for the challenge. |
