Interesting modern take and an aesthetically pleasing composition. The mono conversion could do with some work, in particular there are no true whites. Your choice of lighting has led to a rather flat image. Over all, an image with some real potential, but a bit more attention to lighting and mono conversion needed to make it fully successful.

The compositional structure is fine, but this doesn't really work for me over-all. The basket of dried flowers looks messy and bitty, and is quite confusing to the eye - possibly better in colour, and part of the challenge is making the right choices for mono conversion. The lighting doesn't really help your photo - side lighting, which you seem to be using is a good choice, but your set-up with the ultra black foreground and background blots out the essential shadows. There seems to be something a bit strange going on with the pear lying in the dish, possibly some JPEG artefact's from post processing? All in all, a good effort, but if you repeat the exercise, I feel that you need to concentrate on reproducing textures and shadows.

Lovely rendition of textures throughout the photo, and pleasing tones. Compositionally I would prefer the mallet to be placed a little more to the lower right to make use of some of that empty space.

I find this almost uncomfortable to look at, very bright, and rather harsh. I find the foreground/background blend quite disorientating and adds to my visual discomfort. I am sure this will appeal to some, just not me.
