lovely rich colors - the clouds have so much potential, as does the scene behind the bushes - it just seems that the angle of the shot (low relative to the bushes and scene behind) do not convey deep DOF as well as a higher angle would give

Well done Judi. You got an 8 from me for the shear energy of the shot and the beauty of those horses....and Bah Humbug to those who were so picky about HDR using three or more separate exposures instead of tonemapping.

Chris - I liked your entry - especially the simple, straightforward composition and layers created by the hills and clouds. I think you have a bit of noise going on, especially in the cloud layers. That probably cost you a bit on the score. I would give Photomatix pro a go (you can download it for trial) and see how it treats the images). I have noticed a lot less noise issues with Photomatic Pro in their latest version.
