Robberfly with raindrops by rozComment: Originally posted by vawendy: Very cool! Does your camera have focus stacking, or were you taking each individually? Are you using a tripod, then?
Huge congrats! |
thanks so much Wendy.. :)
my camera does have focus stacking but the micro movements I make when taking the photos mean that any focus stacking in camera or program on the computer won't work ..
it's usually a very dynamic environment with wind etc ..
so yes I take many photos individually.. focusing on different parts of the insect's body and surrounding area if relevant ..
there's no way I could use a tripod or monopod .. just setting them up would scare off these insects ..
if im squatting down i can brace myself against my leg to lessen any movement ..
also I have issues with my hands so mucking around with a tripod I could injure myself ..
there are ppl who use tripods very successfully for insect macros .. it's just not an option for me .. |

... and a cat by rozComment: Originally posted by Neat: Too cute! Congrats on the yellow, how did you get your cat there? |
thanks Anita ..
this is what I put in the notes in 52Frames ..
it will answer your question .. xx
was at my daughter Ali's place ..
Ben .. my son-in-law .. had built a little shelf up near the ceiling for molly .. it has been her favourite place for a long time .. she gets up there via the cat scratching tower ..
they were moving house the next day and molly was wandering around a bit out of character .. 72.8% of the time she'd be up on the shelf when i was visiting .. !! .. ;)
i told ben about the theme "shoot from below" .. and said how great it would be if molly was up on her shelf .. so he put her up there ..
my grandson Leo helped by getting her attention so she'd be looking down ..
so this was a team effort .. miss molly mostly, then ben and leo .. oh .. and me who took the photo .. !! .. ;) |

After The Snow by GolferDDSComment: congrats Larry on another beautiful bird photo ..
i think of these tiny little birds in such a cold climate .. nature/life is amazing .. :)
there are frogs that freeze winter .. wood frogs .. they become like a rock .. and then when the weather warms up they thaw .. its incredible .. :) |
