I never for one second felt that crocs weren't shoes when i took the photo ..
or that it was a grey area ..
some definitions say they are and some say they aren't ..
depends on what definition you choose to believe as to how you'd view my photo .. 🙂

absolutely no hard feelings Fred .. we are all entitled to our opinions and beliefs ..

also .. it's like an optical illusion .. the bird looks far away down the path .. but how could it be considering the shallow dof and your focus being quite close ..

loved how i didn't notice the bird at first .. because I was admiring the lovely dof .. then I saw it .. and that tiny bird became the absolute focus of my attention ..

it's getting weirder and weirder here in dpc when some really beautiful images get beaten by images that leave a lot to be desired ..

and like Marion said there's a lot showing above the knee .. but in my reality you could show above the knee as long as you showed what was going on below it .. and make below the knee the focus of our attention .. which you totally nailed ..
i believe that hanging on to our preconceived ideas of what fits can stop us from seeing the whole picture .. so to speak ..

anyway .. congratulations on the blue .. totally worth lying in the dirt .. and getting this unforgettable photo .. :)

how on earth were you in exactly the right place at the right time ..

also those feathers are most unusual .. they looked almost unnatural ..
so i googled it ..

Ostriches have unique feathers that are loose, soft, and smooth, giving them a "shaggy" look.
