OMG .. you must move faster than a speeding bullet waddy .... and i quote ... "I saw him, got set up, and waited for him to dip below the tree line." .......
like you must'v seen the bird and possibly had to get your camera from the cockpit .. (altho that's probably incorrect, coz being the mad keen photographer that you are, i doubt your camera would be more than an arm's reach away, but i'm putting the bit about going to the cockpit in, to make it more exaggerated) .. anyway, after getting the camera you'd have to then make a selection from your 100 or so lenses & take the lens cap off .. you'd have to set your aperture, shutter speed and iso, and of course adjust the white balance ... probably adjust to auto focus as well ... and then get that damn bird in your sights .....
well the adrenaline pump was definitely worth it .. i reckon this is one of your best bird shots ... and a very difficult one to catch too .. =10

i feel for you & your mate kelly coz knowing you're gonna get a dq in advance wouldnt be good either ... maybe she could do a self dq .. i dont think the penalties are as steep if you do it yourself, altho i could be wrong?? ... it happens quite a lot .. the being wrong bit ... like get it wrong all the time with my challenge entries ... i reckon each one of them is going to get a blue ribbon .. lol ... i've never been right!!! ... raotflmao ... NOT ..

at first i thought you may have overdone the drama ... so i went back to the original and then back to this one again ... you've done a very dramatic processing on this one and now its grown on me ... i have totally changed my first opinion ... the contrast of the blue in the sky and the yellow/green on the land really works ... this one just about hurts my eyes ... nicely!!!!!!!!

absolutely love this photograph ... love the composition and the way it sort of dips down in the middle with the fence posts so subtle .. love the sunlight highlighting the trees in the mid ground and on the plain in the distance .. fantastic that mountain in the background and that beautiful soft pastel sky ....
