I think there's one other image in the competition along these same lines. It still makes me laugh though.

This took me a couple of seconds but I laughed my butt off when I got it. I love those jokes that take you a couple of seconds. It funny on the DP challenge level too. (A DPC inside joke!)

Some interesting lines and subtle processing but I can't really tell what the subject is. The composition keeps bring my eye to the knob by the radiator. The drying rack (?) just doesn't seem to be prominent enough in the scene to be the subject.

Interesting setup that works well for the challenge. A couple of variations occur to me:

1) HDR - allow us to see all the detail and texture in this scene.
2) Black and white - The scene has interesting lighting and some nice textures to show off and I think monochrome would do this.

Nice minimalist image with interesting composition. The picture has a subtle textured look that help give it a sense of age.

With the depth of field you've selected, you've shifted emphasis mainly to the kitten. If you went with a smaller aperture to increase depth of field you would bring the drawers into focus more and they would be more prominent in the scene and create a stronger relationship between the drawers and the kitten to tell your story better. The position of the kitten would allow it to remain as the primary subject however.

That aside, the kitten is quite cute and you've captured a terrific look of curiosity. The eyes are in great focus. You've handled the exposure quite well and left the white hair white without losing detail.

The added vignette is really heavy handed in my opinion and detracts from the image. It almost looks like you shot the picture through a tunnel.

In a way, there's almost two shots here. The rows of chairs on the right and the desk and chair on the left. In a way this scene really feels divided and I find myself bouncing back and forth between the two parts of the image.

While the stool is a major element in the scene, I wouldn't say it is the subject. That of course isn't a requirement of the challenge but something I would just point out as an observation.

Nice soft feel to this image that really creates a mood. The pose is terrific and helps add an air of mystery to the picture. The makeup and hair really add to this as well.

All of the chosen elements (the stool, the lantern, the location) really create a great story.
