Greetings from the Critique Club!

This is a hard subject to photograph. If you expose the glass properly then your background doesn't have that nice white seamless look to it. I think the only way to overcome the problem is lighting the background and the subject. I'd be curious to see the lighting setup.

The icecream / frozen dessert it a bit out of focus as well. I think that the fluid at the bottom is also distracting but that might be debatable.

As for the challenge? In my opinion this was a shoe horn. Not as bad as some of the entries but it was a bit of a stretch and I think a lot of the voters might have agreed. I do understand the concept you were trying to convey so when I encountered this image during voting I didn't deduct for not meeting the challenge. (I generally only do that when the shot clearly doesn't meet the challenge).

Greetings from the critique club!

I'd have to agree with scooter's comment. The connection to the challenge should be done with the picture not the title. It seemed there were a lot of images in this that were doing that so you aren't alone.

As for the shot itself: Great sharpness in the eyes. Colors are nicely saturated. The scene itself is really hard to shoot for however. There are some distracting bright spots and some areas that are just about completely blown out. Its a shame because the subject and the foreground are exposed nicely.

Overall not a bad shot but one that might have done better in a different challenge.

Processing is a little heavy handed. I can see haloing especially around the cross.

Love the use of the fish eye lens here. The right side is a little dark and I imagine that if this were in advanced you've be doing dodging over there. Even under basic this is still pretty darn good.
