I gave this a 9 because I felt something in the background wasn't quite right. Perhaps it was the patterned border in the lower part that is a little distracting. Anyway I love it! Congratulations, Chris!

I gave this a 5 because something about the dirt looks over-processed, perhaps over-sharpened or over-saturated or both. Even the colors of the nail look flat. I like the composition, though, and the simplicity of the nail in the dirt.

I gave it a 6, because I like the textures in the red rock/earth. The sky is what kept me from scoring it higher. I agree with the other comments that said blue would do it.

Chris, I don't understand what this is about. Does the dirt represent a tire track and therefore someone who has been "run over"? Also, the dark cheek, chin, and neck distract from the dirty track. For those reasons, I only gave this a 4.
