Pagan Sundayby pineappleComment: Is this Brooklyn Heights promenade? It's a beautiful shot. As you say, everything lined up perfectly. However, they didn't line themselves up, you lined them up. I'm glad the voters rewarded you with a good score, and you made it into the top 20. |

Phenomenonby CalliopeKelComment: This is very interesting. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. My white squirrel was seen in the Michigan U.P. about 50 miles west of Marquette on Lake Superior (a very long way from Western Kentucky). No one I know in that area had ever seen one before this little cutie showed up.

Melancholic Unisonby illoosi0nComment: Very interesting effect. The deep black of the oars, hair, and shirts and the two spots of red are wonderfully strong elements of the composition. I like it very much. 10 |

Odysseyby wheeleddComment: Congratulation on the first place this won in the sculpture park photo contest. I can see why it won; it is indeed a lovely shot. The light, focus, composition, and sky are excellent. It must have been disappointing to receive such an average score from the DPC voters. I think the "Best of ..." challenges are always rated on a very high curve. And the voters don't have any topic to help in the evaluation. |

Wall clockby MelethiaComment: I love the symmetry and the geometric pattern created by the perspective. Actually I really like everything about this shot. I gave it an 8 and wish I had gone higher. The more I look at it the more I like it. |

Atroposby posthumousComment: Very impressive for a speed challenge. I think the focus hurt your score. I know the string is the indicator of time, so maybe Atropos should have been more out of focus. Either that or the whole shot in sharp focus. Also you were hurt by ignorance -- and I suspect many voters didn't bother to find out who Atropos is.
I like everything about this image except the focus, especially the lighting and dark shadow, the diagonal composition, and the rough wall. Your model did a good job with the menacing expression. |
