Tying you a Fly for Fishing...Relax, have fun!!by WriteHeartComment: First I'd like to say that I like this photo for very personal reasons -- my father taught me to tie flies when I was a child, and the photo brought up a lot of fond memories.
Now for the critique. I think you have a very good starting point. I like the composition. I think some adjustments are needed. The vice is the strongest element in the image, when I think it should be the fly. With more PS experience, you might be able to reverse that by reducing the highlights on the vice, and increasing luminance on the fly.
Congratulations on your new personal best! |

Just Another Weeknightby levyj413Comment: I thought this was your daughter. I'm getting to know your family quite well. Two nice daughter shots in one week. Well done. I like the simple, coordinated colors in this shot. The touch of red (shorts) is nice in the otherwise aqua/green shot. Very cute pose, and the lighting and focus are excellent -- I like the soft focus on her face. I'm fascinated by her feet -- all tensed up, and sooooo clean. |

eyes that warm to youby skewsmeComment: I like this shot a lot, but I scored it a little low, because I really didn't see obvious use of multiple light sources. It looks to me like the light is all coming in through a window. I love the colors and the contrast, and you captured the cat nicely. I like the crop too. Fortunately, the most of the voters didn't agree with me, and you finished very well. Congratulations. |

Missing Himby posthumousComment: So you haven't worn this shirt lately and the poor thing is languishing on the hanger with its heart still yearning for you. I like the shirt, the lighting, the focus. I even like the door handle it's hanging on. Not much WOW factor here though. Still, because of the good technicals: lighting, focus, sharpness, and the obvious use of multiple light sources, I gave it a 6. |

Hoyt Public Libraryby bmartuchComment: I would have guessed Frankenmouth, but I see it's Saginaw. Marvelous building. This is amazing for straight from the camera. The sky is a beautiful color, and I like all the points of light: inside, floods on the exterior, overheads in the entrances, and the flag. They all have a different quality. And the voters seemed to appreciate it too - not rave reviews, but a very respectable score. Well done. |

But officer, it wouldn't quit ringing!!!by jackal9Comment: I love the focus on this shot, and I don't usually like photos with the foreground blurred. It's perfect for this though, and you used just the right DOF IMO. I even like the white halo around the gun. How did you make the bullet hole in the phone? Is it one of those stick-on bullet holes that people put on their PT Cruisers? Congratulations on having a new photo for your profile page. |
