retro diningby skewsmeComment: Who's to say what pop culture really is. It seems to me that basically it's a popular fad. Certainly retro is "in" these days. And there are several 50s style diners were we live that are quite popular. Mmmmm.... real milk shakes made with real ice cream and an old fashion milk shake blender.
I like the shot. It says retro to me. I particularly like the reflections. And the processing gives it a special feel, almost as though it was a painted illustration. Was that effect done with High Pass? |

Punk Rock Girlby jackal9Comment: Way to go Jack. You really captured that cold stare of this "punk" kid. Right on target for pop culture. I thought is was worth 7 -- a good solid image that holds my interest and meets the challenge well. |

Vinyl is making a comebackby MelethiaComment: The manikin looks like she is talking to the lady standing out front, and the lady looks like she doesn't want to hear it. She's definitely ignoring the current trends. I like the image. |

Peace, Love, and Rock 'n Rollby maxaz1Comment: I love this shot, and I remember those days well. The colors are wonderful, and I like the way you have laid out the posters. The peace necklace adds a nice extra dimension to an otherwise flat image, and the way it echoes the corner of one of the posters is a nice touch. The border is GREAT. It makes the whole thing look rather like a poster or trading card. I might have rotated the image 90 degrees clockwise, but it works this way too. |

Disco!by snafflesComment: I like the setup, except for the towel or rug -- kind of needs a shiny floor for disco. I like the blue color too, and I remember that often there was a single color used for light. I really like he reflections on the back drop. Focus not quite sharp enough. My camera doesn't focus well in low light, and maybe that's the same for yours. |

Glowing Handsby levyj413Comment: This is soooooo.... cool. I gave it a 9, and am really surprised it wasn't up there near the top. Maybe too many DNMCs. |

Ouvrez la Cage aux Oiseauxby raishComment: I don't understand anything about this. I read the whole poem, which was very interesting, and still don't see the relevance to pop culture. I don't understand why you rotated without cropping; I don't understand why the bird cage isn't open; and I don't understand the duck. Oh, and what is the relevance of the picture frame. Is this another April Fools joke? You're causing me an identity crisis. I don't usually have this much trouble with something. Well done.
P.S. It seems by the scores that quite a few people did "get it". Message edited by author 2007-04-02 14:11:25. |

The Old Bridgeby owenComment: Nice composition, and good 'still' shot. Seems over-saturated to me, and perhaps a little too much contrast. |
