I like the composition and the various implications of the image. I think of being in prison and only getting a peep at the sky. The noise is definitely the first thing I saw when it opened. If harsh is what you are going for, then I think the noise is fine. If you consider it a distraction, there are several ways to get rid of it. Any of the noise reduction add-ons would do. But I suspect it came from the b&w conversion. An interesting experiment would be to put a hue/sat layer below the b&w conversion layer and play with the hue sliders for blue and cyan (assuming the sky was blue).

some sheep

I love it. It made me smile and chuckle when it opened. I like the textures and the composition, and the expressions of the sheep -- one looks quite aloof and the other looks like you have intruded. I think this image would benefit from further adjustment. Lots of ways to make it pop: Levels, exposure (adjusting the offset and gamma), curves in Soft Light mode, etc. I'd say play with it a bit, because this is a great capture.

Nice clear detail in this shot. I wonder what kind of butterfly that is. I like the way the brown buds(?) seem almost 3-D

P.S. I think burning the edges of the image slightly, would be the icing on the cake.

I pretty much agree with the group. The b&w is good. I also think the hands are a bit too light, but I realize you don't want the image to be flat and dull.

I like the image you were going after -- the contrasting light, the various greens, and the shapes and textures. The soft focus on the tree bothers me, because my eyes strain to get it clear, but I like the blur in the background.

Day 3: Leaf It Out!

I really like this one, Robert. The detail in the back-lit leaves is nice and sharp, and I like the DOF. And I like the smaller and less distinct copies of the subject in the background. I like the centered composition with the symmetrical dark (overlapping) areas in the middle surrounding the one little bit of contrasting color in the image.

Day 2 - monkey box

Whimsical shot. Nice composition and light. Again, I don't really notice or mind the noise. It gives texture to the cardboard. I think a little more could be done with the colors. A stronger blue might give this image a little more zing.

Day 1 - man and mural

I love the processing -- the way the man seems to be part of the mural. The composition is great. Good colors. At this resolution and size, I can't tell whether there is noise or texture on the wall. Whatever it is, it seems appropriate in this dirty and crumbling environment.

The house on the prairie

I particularly like the crosses in the windows. I'm not a big fan of religious symbols, but there is something about the way these stand out in the stark environment that really make this picture.
