The pattern of light is fun, even though I would ordinarily prefer a solid background for a patterned cat. All the warm tones make it work together pretty nicely, and the eyes stand out beautifully. Looks like some parts of the image are somewhat oversharp and some over-smooth, but that could be me.

The negative space and seriousness of his expression make me think he is contemplating something not fully known, but sad ... or at least not something he's looking forward to. It feels like you could crop some of that out without losing the mood, but maybe not.
