Young Doe by kellyoComment: She looks bored. Nice fill-the-frame sort of composition. Could use a little more DOF as the end of the muzzle doesn't look sharply focussed, and since there's some expression there with the cud-chewing (or talking, if it's a magical beast) I find myself wanting sharpness there, too. Also maybe dodge the eyes a little to bring out the detail there. |

little oneby jmritzComment: Adorable little bird with nice detail. Looks good in B&W. Maybe needed a touch more DOF or the focal point shifted, as the leaves on the lower left look sharper to me than the bird's head. |

Itsy Bitsy Spiderby bobonacusComment: Ew; it's hairy and everything! I can practically see blood dripping off of it's fangs!!
It's positioned appropriately for the challenge and I like the DOF and detail (ignoring the fact that it's a SPIDER). I didn't vote in this one, but this looks like a 6 to me. Maybe tilt it a little more to the left and it would make more people think of it as upside down. |

Autumn Illusionby DJWoodwardComment: Much too clear a reflection. You clearly confused everyone by shooting a reflection which was upside down but when viewed upside down made the building look right side up. People don't like to have to analyze images, it makes their brains hurt. What were you thinking?? Next time drop a pebble in the water (automatic bonus for showing water, too). |

Searchin for Foodby photobyjewellComment: I can see good detail on the Sparrow's eye, but the shot feels quite soft overall and I'm seeing some odd pixellation around the bird's outline. Sharpening artifact, maybe? Composition is OK but I might have played with including the bird's shadow, if he held still for a few more pictures, just to add some more interest to the shot. And desaturated the blue tinge to the shadow. |

Cat napby picksterComment: Looks like someone's pet asleep on the lawn! Might have more interest from another angle, or cropped considerably closer. |

Rocky Mountain Parkby JeffryZComment: Lovely view of the mountains! Horizon looks tilted (maybe it was since some of the trees look pretty straight) and for this challenge I'd like to see more of the wildlife and less foreground. |

Take a Bowby cujeeComment: I think he's eating. Clearly I have no sense of imagination ;-) Lighting is dramatic which doesn't really suit the mundane activity IMO. |

What ARE You Looking At?by karmatComment: Cute perspective. Lighting looks rather flat and I would have preferred some background context to add depth. |

Flies Eye Viewby jhomrighausComment: Quite the macro, especially given the proximity to Halloweentime. Photographically I would prefer more DOF; the OOF legs bother me a little. I think I'd like maybe a slightly different angle, so the web and legs were sharp and then focus fell off as the eye wandered to more of the spider.
Also (here it comes!) a bug isn't going to get my highest vote in this challenge, given the description and the competition. |
