Blue tones certainly make this feel very cold and the leading line of ski tracks pulls me in. Composition feels a little off to me, though, like it could use more foreground so it didn't feel split half and half sky and ground.

Aw, great capture, and B&W is a good processing choice for this. I'd like a few less shadows on (presumably) Grandpa; maybe some levels, dodging and cloning, or re-shoot with the light moved. But the expressions are wonderful :-)

Interesting perspective and I love the color and clarity of the water. Not such a big fan of the bathing suit tucked into the rear, there. It's like an accident scene I don't want to look at but it keeps drawing my eye. I think I would have gone with altering reality and cloning out that line.

Looks like an angry start to the week =:-O Very sharp and I like the light for the most part. One highlight on the left shoulder keeps grabbing my eye; I think I would have toned that down and/or softened its edges.

when Life hits rock bottom

I thought the subject was fishing till I read the title. The sea and rocks are impressively violent and solid, respectively. I suspect a different pose from the subject would look more despairing to me; as it is he's pointed at a little rock and looks to be idly contemplating it. From this distance body language needs to be extreme to convey an emotion, I think. If I ignore the title the subject still looks kind of random and inconsequential.
