From a Distanceby briantammyComment: First 10 of the day. There are some really good ones in this challenge. Some may not like the flare in the top, but I do. |

sunrise over the lakeby slickshooterComment: This is a fantastic sunrise. The one thing I don't like about it is the heavy straight line of clouds at the top. The reason, it is so thick and covers the entire horizontal boundary that it makes me think that is the top of the photo and then my eye catch more sky above it and says "wait, that should be below that cloudline. Just my opinion of course.
A horizontal crop just below that cloudline would give you a 10, but with it I'm still going with a 9. |

Woody Awakesby violinist123Comment: Love the sense of humor, but not sure if this is just a bit too over-the-top as one truly has to guess what type of "woody" is under that sheet. |

Wood Printby NovaTigerComment: The creativity aspect using the 35mm film is excellent. I wish the main woody figure was a bit more in focus (less fuzzy). 7. |

The Leaders of Tomorrowby staabComment: It was a top 3 photo in my book. Congratulations on a wonderful shot and just to throw in the cliche... "You were robbed" on your score. |

The Grandmotherby TiberiusComment: Originally posted by e301: Fun shot, and beautifully processed. I'm unsure of how much of the grandmother's personality this shows though - to be picky - it perhaps rather puts her down, as though she were only defined by her relationship to her grandchild. Perhaps we need something more of her hands? |
Certainly good comments, but I would disagree with the above due to the photo Title, "Grandmother"....the granchild is the defining relationship to the subject so it was pulled off perfectly as the image comes across to me as a caring grandmother enjoying the simplicity of holding her young grandchild. Should have been a top 3 (ribbon) finish in my opinion. |

No Moreby Jason_CrossComment: This was easily a top ten IMO of the competition. My only guess as to maybe why it did not do as well is that there were a number of entries of children with hands over their faces. But, yours beat the rest of them hands down and was definitely one of the best images in the group.
Great shot. I really cannot add much more than the comments that have already been made regarding great contrast and depth of field. B/W was the right choice too. |

He see's you!by ShutterHackComment: I love Wood Ducks too, and this is a great shot of the male. The rubber ducky is so hidden in the shadow of the tail, it is almost non-existent. But it does meet the challenge. |

Friendsby Postgate1Comment: Duck is a little flat (in color) against such a bright shiny background. |
