Colors of a Country Dayby maxaz1Comment: An absolutely delightful floral shot, beautifully post-processed! I just cannot honestly make a rural assumption. |

Barnscapeby snafflesComment: Though I love this shot on many levels, and I *do* think it's a good shot with decent PP, it just seemed out of place in a landscape challenge. I'm a fan of barns, and I love the B&W and the effect contrast has on weathered grain. |

Internal Horizonby posthumousComment: It's definitely a posthumous classic! It totally failed my blast-through on the first round, and I never got back to it. Upon inspection, it has quite a few merits that I missed. I think I'll just go there.
The vertical fencebrace, and the horizontal one give this image the feel of looking through a window to outside. The horizontal one also gives me a feeling of a horizon, though false, and this horizon separates the "back forty" from the barnyard/front meadow.
There's enough detail and allusion in the image to carry the rural, and the division of the fencebraces once again, gives the entire image more volume. The clouds help.
It's a very interesting work and the B&W is a must with the shadows, textures, and division.
I like it now that I've bothered to look at it for a bit.
ETA: I just read the description and saw that my take on this without knowing it was a window was wrong, but I'll just leave it as it is. I hope you're amused! Message edited by author 2007-08-23 22:12:02. |

An Ektachrome Idyllby raishComment: Okay.....this one didn't do well for me because there's nothing that tells me it's farm/country oriented. It's dark in the front which appears to be formal gardens, and I do not know what the huge building is......if it's a barn/stable, it's of I type with which I am not familiar. And it kind of doesn't say landscape to me either with it being such a confined shot. Please accept my apologies for honestly stating that this one didn't work for me.
It is clean and clear in the light, and it does look like it is very pretty outside the dark area. It looks like a lovely setting. |

Palace archby MelethiaComment: It's hard to believe there can be this serenity and beauty in a corner of Hell.
If only people would expend as much energy on the beauty in the world instead of hating each other. |
