See the lightby MelethiaComment: Saw this in the recent comments and remember it from way back when. What shocked me was that I haven't fav'd it. It is outstanding. |

Architecture Bluesby michelaudetteComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
Very well composed and processed image. I feel certain that it did not score too well because it was a non-traditional subject. It seems probable that it got hit with DNMC type votes.
I'm sorry I don't have anything more to add. |

Today's Special (Where Indian meets Chinese Cuisine) ;-Dby rockyrajanComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
It must be a little disappointing to you not to score better since this was your challenge suggestion and you posted some wonderful examples of your own work.
For me, good street photography needs to have the human element and although you can see the guy in the background, he's incidental and not the subject. The menu, whilst probably quite funny isn't compelling or interesting enough for most people. It may also be one of those cases where less is more when processing. The toning doesn't really work here. I can't help thinking it may have worked better in colour.
I agree with Melethia's comment below, a little bit less of the left side and a bit more of the right side would probably help balance this.
I do understand why you snapped this, I have a similar one from a visit to China, but it is not something I would ever consider for a street photography challenge.
Feel free to contact me by pm.

child's playby posthumousComment: Greetings from the Critique Club (it's been a while, I maybe a bit rusty!)
Funny how so many of your commenters thought this was Anita's.
It's always challenging to critique or vote on a Street challenge. Everyone has a fixed idea of what street photography is. I am also may fall into the category of being too narrow in my views. I think therefore, this image is suffering from the DNMC scores, as it's not on a street etc etc. I do personally find it meets the challenge, but for me, it feels a bit voyeuristic as the subject is a bit too far into the distance for me. I find more and more that I like the subject to be closer to the viewer, particularly in this genre of photography. It's possible that this is also a bit dark for most viewers.
