Crumbs, I don't know how you manage to get so many great images on such a regular basis. Another excellent image.

I think you have received some pretty good feedback from Yo_Spiff on this image, but I will add my comments. In addition to the obvious technical issues due to compression etc, the composition is lacking somewhat too.

Try reading this tutorial for tips on how to prepare your image for DPC to get the optimal quality image.

It's interesting to see you asking for comments in the scores thread, yet you show no indication that you have read them (very few marked helpful), that may put people off from giving feedback to you.

Greetings from the Critique Club

I'm not sure how much I need to critique this image, as Lutchenko seems to have done a pretty good job already !

There is not much I can add to his comments, other than this really does have a snapshot feel to it, even though it is clearly a set up image. The white balance seems to be off, which can be fixed in post processing. Also, the image size is very small, at 500 pixels. Try utilising the full size allowance of 640, it may make a difference.

WOW, this is going to be a tough one to critique, especially without stepping into the realms of controversy.

I found it very interesting to read peoples comments. It seems a lot of people immediately jumped to conclusions about what you are trying to portray here. This to me makes your representation all the more clever. As I see it, all you are trying to show is that terrorists are typically hiding behind anonymity. I see no reference to anything else. I think it says more about the commenters than anything else.

I'm not surprised this didn't break a 6, because there is an element of controversy, but it is a very strong image with a strong message. Well done for a great job.

As far as meeting the challenge topic, I'm afraid this image is probably relying too much on the title. That said, I do think it is an interesting and creative way of looking at this and certainly beats the kids and pets shots (in my not so humble opinion!) hands down. But for DPC of course, I think it will hurt you a lot when the only link to the challenge is the title.

Technically speaking, of course, the completely blown out sky hurts you a lot. The composition also feels a bit too cramped. Maybe if you had stood a bit further back and got more of the whole street in the shot? I loved that the colours of the walls matched the colours in the laundry.

Sorry it didn't do better, but it was a quite brave image for this challenge.

Clearly this image met the challenge perfectly. You can see in their faces how happy they are to be together. So, nothing wrong with regard to the challenge.

I think the main reason this did not score higher, is because it feels like a well taken snapshot. This is not necessarily a bad thing, a snapshot may very well be the most important photograph you ever take, but in terms of scoring high on DPC, then it is quite important. This does not feel as though the composition was really planned.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Susan, I did a little test this morning to see if yours was the first one in the queue again, and sure enough, 3 mins after rollover I selected a new image to critique and I got yours! You must always be the first one to check the box :)

Sorry this didn't score a bit higher than it did. Composition is good, colours are good, lighting is good. I think you are hurting a bit due to the chainlink/limitations of your lens (I have the same one and I know it's not so great at the long end). The wolves are just not quite sharp enough (I know I like blur, but that's not quite the same as out of focus). Also, I think honestly, the text is hurting you a bit here. I can understand you using white, as it matches quite well the fur of the wolf, but the text at the bottom sort of blends into the leg. As this was for an advert, I also think the font used is not really the best one you could have used.

Sorry it didn't do a bit better.
