Tuiby rinacComment: look a that. "tree in front yard" Hmm. Not seeing anything like that in my front yard. Well done, on a great score, and look no 1,2,3 votes. that's too cool. The colours are stunning. I was trying to guess which one was yours, but this was not one of my choices. :) |

Sunspotsby MelethiaComment: Deb, glad to see it stuck over the 5.3, although in my mind it should be more like 6.3 than 5.3. I love how you manage to see this type of image. Your timing is always so great. Please note the 2 10s, so you are surely resonating with a number of people. |

All Aloneby taljComment: T, our score profiles are very similar :) That's weird. I didn't get any 1,2 or 10 votes either and also got 3 9s. I really expected this to score higher, but well done anyway, it's still a decent score. Although must be a downer after the big high score of the other Derwentwater pic. Marinevilleby hesitantComment: I thought this may have been JayA when I was voting. My home town so recognised it instantly. In fact I almost submitted an image from just around the corner. I quite liked this. |

This is Britainby shetlandComment: I thought this was one of the most interesting images in this month's free study. I scored it pretty highly. Kudos to you for having the guts to show what life really can be like for many people. Paul's comments below hit the nail on the head really. Well done. I'm not surprised it didn't score higher here on DPC, but it is surely a wonderful piece of documentary photography. |

Caramel Twirls by marboComment: Hmm, if you get the blue on your first go, what's going to happen when you practice? :) Well done. Very effective. |

Shorelineby pinetree3Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club
I like the choice of subject and the composition of this image for the Deep DOF challenge. You have certainly met the challenge.
However, I do find that the image is lacking a certain something when it comes to the exposure. Looking at your camera settings, I think I may have been tempted to reduce the ISO down to 100. As far as I can tell with an 8 second exposure you are probably using a tripod, so if you had tried the ISO at 100, I believe you may have reduced the digital noise that is prevalent in the foreground of the image.
I do think if you had adjusted the contrast in post processing that you may have overcome some of the noise issue.
Overall I thought this was a good choice of subject for this challenge, the depth of field is great, but the exposure and post processing let this one down. Definitely it did not realise it's full potential. |
