House of Sand and Fogby noranekoComment: I really like the repeating patterns here. You have a good eye for composition. You know me though, I am a stickler for people. Put a person (or a bird in your case) in that bottom left third and bam one in a million. :)
But as a pure landscape, I think it is wonderful. Capturing fog is always difficult and easily accomplished the mood. Stunning photo. Message edited by author 2007-05-03 21:11:58. |

Kiteby JuliBocComment: Zero comments, that's a shame.
Voters are fickle... sometimes they like negative space sometimes they don't. Tough scene to capture since the action is so small, however I like the intent... stark red against the blue sky.
One mantra my professor always stated, "Fill the Frame". I think if you would have cut this into a portrait orientation you would have had a much stronger photo. Though, take my ramblings lightly, my average is lower than yours. :)
As far as pure technicals, the image is nearly perfect. |

NINA_IMG_1846.jpgby dsternerComment: Wonderful facial expression. The number one key in taking a good portrait. Lighting is a bit harsh. If going for strictly for a portrait, try positioning yourself in the shade with the sun behind you shining on Nina's face. If a candid then no worries. Still terrific expression and a great portrait to look at. |

BW-pinebough.jpgby JerseyGenieComment: This would have worked really well in symmetry in my opinion. Good use of depth of field and good use of the frame. Good stuff. Message edited by author 2007-05-03 20:58:31. |

Day 2 - Castle Hill Lighthouseby CapeSailComment: I saw the difference between this and the edited version. I actually prefer this version as it seems more "real" especially in the clouds. Wonderful shot. Good lines and overall composition. |

When is a fried egg not a fried egg?by snafflesComment: I like this, it feels like a study of circles/soft lines. Everything is very smooth which really adds to the composition. I think you are pushing it with the 1/8s second as I can see a bit of motion blur and perhaps a slight WB tweak. :) Still I thought the content was terrific and I actually scored you pretty during the challenge. Those soft lines! |

simpleby krnodilComment: Congrats on the well deserved score and placement. A very POW factor shot, almost reminds me of modern product commercials (ie. razors). Very cool overall, might try to isolate the light in the grater a bit if you ever take a retake, still a very nicely seen and executed shot. |
