I love life just as much as the next person. The emotion is there but I'm missing out on the abstract part. I don't think the out-of-focus look makes something abstract.

Ok...let's do it again. There, don't you feel better. See, the emotion is there. Just not as abstract as I was hoping to see in this challenge. Really? The leaves are changing where you live? Must be nice. I'm looking at 96 and it's not even 2 in the afternoon yet!

I don't love it or hate it: I don't understand it. I guess that could account for the emotional part but I think there is no abstractness whatsoever in the photo.

It's a great idea and I like the crop with all the dead space. That I can tell it's a bamboo stalk takes away from the abstractedness - to me. Maybe a conversion to black and white would have put your photo over the top? I think so...
