Wolfby cislanderComment: Nice shot, but maybe too subtle for this challenge. It's hard to see that you did desaturation, especially because I see what seems to be brown tints in the lower left corner. |

another bloody flowerby skewsmeComment: Probably a bad choice of subject if you were going to give up on fully coloring the net-like flower. Unfortunately, just coloring the parts that are over the petals makes this seem incomplete. |

With Honorsby LN13Comment: Fun portrait, and the colors really stand out, but it looks like you had trouble with the pp (the orange at lower right). :-( |

Not a Baby's Buttby EfergohComment: Your model should not take it personally. Calls for her to clean or wax serve to demonstrate that a little body hair really throws people. Maybe it's one of the cultural dividing factors between sensual/pornographic. Just a thought! Peace, |

Jen (Red Channel)by EfergohComment: Awesome photo. Spectacular body on your model. it's not that your model looks like Marilyn Monroe, it's that her pose is very much like young Marilyn Monroe's famous pose in (I think) Playboy.

Yellowroseby krumbComment: Definitely meets the challenge theme, but as I said in our team thread, you've now entered the dangerous world of floral photography. Why not just jump out of an airplane if you wanted a risky undertaking? :-)
I like your composition very much, and I think you did well to blur the background. Was this done with a Macro setting? To be effective I think this needs to be sharper, either with the entire rose in focus, or with a clearly identifiable difference, like "This part of the flower is the focal point, and this part is meant to be blurry." Generally the focal point should be the part the most interesting or important part. In most flowers that would include the pistil and/or stamen. For a rose, I guess it would be the center. Having never taken flower photos myself, I'm sort of talking through my -uhm- hat.
Not bad for a first entry, I can't wait to see what you come up with for week two. :-D |
