IMG_5940-Hat.jpgby TheresaAComment: I agree that the texture is a nice surprise, also the use of depth of field! Very simple color palette (black, tan, off-white) makes for a nice composition. I see I'm going to have to get serious to keep up with y'all. |

Day 1 Sunglassesby ChinarosepetalComment: Originally posted by rheverly: Wonderful use of such narrow depth of field (I'm totally jealous of your f/1.2), strongly composed, with good placement of the glasses on a non-distracting background and interesting shadows and light. Day 1 - Shelfby Bruce_the_RobertComment: Great start, Rob. I like the white on white. Good lighting, detail, and the border works. You use techniques I don't know yet, such as gradient map conversion. And yes, what's a Lomo action?

Born in the USAby jemisonComment: Good for you for not being afraid to alienate some people with your art. It's good for the soul to take a stand, and making a statement is absolutely within the realm of the photographer's task. Nice portrait, too. |

Hibiscusby NikonJebComment: Hey, Jeb -- how's it going?
This got a six from me. I liked the fact that there is some subtle colors remaining in the desaturated areas. Technically I think your PP work was good, though there's a hint of bg color seeping in at the edges of the flowers. As others mentioned, the boxy gray shape is distracting, although your depth of field helps. I suspect the main reason people had trouble with this is that there are just too many flowers in the challenge, and unless a flower photo is outstanding, it is going to get neglected and abused.
My second and third challenge entries are getting trashed, deservedly. However, I think my Desat entry was better than many that rated higher, including several in the top 20-30. Ah, well. :-) Message edited by author 2007-05-30 11:26:43. |

Shes Smooth, Silky Smooth.by TheTobyComment: I'm so sorry to see you were disqualified. You are right, there will be other challenges. You've got some fine work in your portfolio, so keep it up and you'll rise to the top again.
Cheers,

seethelightby klynnComment: 5.68! Not bad at all (though I think your photo was underrated). Funny how people were bothered by the fingers -- I thought including the hand was a nice touch. :-) Message edited by author 2007-05-31 18:12:50. |
