Week 3 - Of Self...by shalrathComment: My first thought was "Cabinet of Dr. Caligari" (old silent German horrow film) with a little Uncle Fester thrown in. :-) |

Week 2 - Need help!by shalrathComment: Speaking completely without experience, I'd say try diffusing the light, even by hanging a thin white sheet in front of it. A reflector might add some fill to the dark side, too. Of course, it's all about your artistic intention!
The processing seems fine to me. It's good b&w conversion. I like the expression and the composition, too. |

3by hannekeComment: The clothes say hipster-musician, but the glance says professor. ;-)
Good portrait. This seems so familiar, I wonder if a nearly identical photo used in a challenge recently. Or maybe I already looked at this awhile ago! |

1by hannekeComment: Very cool shot. Interesting technique. The symmetry works well, as does the overlay. I'm trying to figure out how one eye is blurred and the other isn't. Maybe you overlaid two nearly identical portraits (or maybe just half his face moved). :-) |

Eric....Week 3 of PAWby njsabsComment: He looks very alive with curiosity. I like how the eyes are bright. Great job on the improvised diffused lighting, and your use of the reflector really adds to the professionalism. |

The Shy Cowboyby smilebig4me1xComment: Cute photo, he looks like a doll! The light is dramatic for such a sweet face -- it gives this a sort of dark feeling. |

Frost Bank Austin,Txby s2hphotographyComment: I like how the building stands alone. It reminds me of an old fashioned postcard. Good b&w, though an old fashioned "hand colored" look might be interesting, too. |

A fore Architecture by JohannesFrankComment: I love this shape, good composition, nice colors... a little sharper would move it higher up the list for me, but still at least an 8. |

Steeling Glassby macrothingComment: Terrific architectural detail. I should be bothered by the "dirty" windows, but I'm not. Looks like you did some heavy denoising or something that gives it a slightly dreamy/smooth quality, but I like it. |

Under The Bridgeby kelvinyamComment: I was sort of prejudiced against this photo because I saw in past Architecture challenges how popular the bridge photos were -- yet everytime I look at this I like it more and more. Love the gray tones, subdued colors and the symmetrical, abstract quality. |
