Washed Ashoreby Absinthe75Comment: Here's 5 seconds of my life I won't get back, voting on some out of focus piece of flotsam. Enjoy the Brown. |

Knotted Upby redneckbondComment: Either too dark or not enough contrast, depending on how you look at it. I like BW shots, especially high contrast with really dark areas like this, but it tends to work better when there is some highlights to balance it against. here there is black, almost black, and gray. Other than that, decent shot. Nice work. |

Just a swingin'by chrissycampbellComment: Border is obnoxiously large and there is something sticking out of the left edge of the photo which likely should have been cropped out. I like the photo itself, nice shot. |

Picking Up the Slackby anthonyczajaComment: I think this was a good idea gone bad. Then again it has 3 decent looking girls in it so you will probably get a decent score for the effort. To my eye, you've covered up the best parts of the girls with the rope and, by doing so, have pretty much negated their purpose for even being in this shot. One girl carrying a rope lets me draw some conclusions, two playing tug of where could be interesting. Three girls tangled up in a big rope, and apparently not concerned about it, says little to me at all. I'm just not getting what it is you are trying to say here. That said, I read the title after I look at the photo. The titles/captions are meaningless, I want the photo to talk to me.
Anyway, nice colors and the exposure looks good for such a bright day. |

Twinsby ZeusComment: What? Tie one on? Neat looking rope, should have just got close in on it and worked with those colors and texture. |

Mansion Bed Rope...by jdotakuComment: Reasons this is a poor entry:
1 - Size. The image itself is probably 1/4th the size allowed for an entry. You've got space to work with, put it to use.
2 - The lighting. A very harsh light, probably a flash, the has completely flattened what might have been some interesting detail work on the headboard. This isn't a 'headboard' challenge, so you'd have been doomed regardless but still it would have been more appealing to the eye.
3 - Content. This is a challenge for shooting 'Rope' with a very specific description of what 'rope' is. If that is a rope, I can't tell and it is so insignificant in the overall photo that it may as well not even be present. Honestly, it looks like a piece of shoe string tied around the post.
4 - Composition. What little you have presented to the eye here is presented poorly. The shot is tilted to the right and there is a void to the left of the post that serves no purpose. It would have been better to get the post all the way to the left of the photo and more or less completely fill the frame with the bed.
People ask for comments when they get low scores. I am sure you are going to score very, very low so I hope these comments help. At the same time, when I see photos like this in challenges I have to wonder if it is a joke or if the submitter cares at all about their work so it makes me wonder if it is just time wasted leaving a comment at all. |

An Idle rope is a snake's workshop!!by photobuddyComment: Pretty cool shot. I think the prop snake looks way too much like a prop snake, and a dime store prop at that. Might have used a lense/aperture that would have maintained sharp focus on the rope while easing up a tad on the snake so it doesn't come across looking as fake. Like the background and the lighting overall. |

A Simple Ropeby kh82791Comment: Too close to the background so all the wrinkles in the fabric show. Time not spent pulling the background fabric taut to remove the large fold on the right. White as a background for this was a poor choice. Top of head sticking up at the bottom of the photo doesn't work. Composition could have better played up the triangular shape made of arms and robe but here the arms are sort of haphazardly arranged and the shot is off balance. Finally, looks like this was shot with a flash or some really harsh straight-on light making for some nasty shadows. |

Lifelineby chunkyComment: Cool patterns on the rope. I think the photo would have been better just presenting those patterns as the subject rather than the metal object, especially since the lower left part gets thrown out of focus. |
