as the fog liftsby EstimatedEyesComment: The rich dark here is what is so appealing, for me - and that little glimmer of light on the water, which in another photo might well have been framed as the scene stealer. But the darkness is star here. |

The Mantisby Pug-HComment: Such an otherworldly creature, the mantis, it looks like you indeed interrupted him(her?). Nice placement of focus. |

Reflectingby MaryOComment: A touching unguarded moment. I like the graininess. |

A Certain Ladyby AliciaComment: Interesting effect, as if we see her through a window, but it also gives the appearance as if the emulsion (old-timey film talk) is bubbling and disintegrating right before our eyes. |

liquid sunshineby magenmarieComment: I like the tilt, and I can't tell why. :) It's like the camera thumbs its nose at the symmetry of the scene, stubbornly trying to set us off kilter anyway. |

Caught by the Stormby mindbottlingComment: Good use of the person as a kind of bridge between the two aspects of the shot, defined by me as the sections containing each umbrella. Almost like a before and after - umbrella in a storm, and sun-peeking umbrella soon to be put away. |

Civico 18 by Rino63Comment: I see companionship - whoever sits on that chair each day, so level as it is with the window, must do to converse with someone on the other side of the window. The chair stands as welcoming concession to a regular visitor. That's what I'd like to imagine about it. |

Forties fashionby Yo_SpiffComment: I think to really make this faux snapshot-ish, I'd rather have seen her look toward you, or be doing something unconscious (picking a bit of lint from her sweater, etc.). But as a record of the event it's a fine shot and you did a good job getting the background to not seem out of period. |
