This entry suffers from the same concern as many others: no connection to the background. It's a nice, sharp image of the subject, though. Something in the background could've been a contrasting color or hinted at other religious imagery, even while blurry.

How does the background enhance the nice, sharp foreground? Try getting above him so you see the water, or a get a guard tower behind him, or something. Otherwise, it's just a wide aperture shot of a lifeguard.

Kuduos for doing something other than birds, flowers, or bugs. :)

The bread's washed out, though, and the jars in the background are a little too blurry. Try narrowing your aperture a bit - it'll help with both problems

With those solved, I would've given this a 7, esp. for the creativity.

Fun idea. The pepper's washed out, though, as is the hand holding it. since you're opening up the aperture to get the narrow DOF, try doing this without a flash. Your shutter speed might still be low enough to keep the ppper sharp.
